Maintaining IDCAMS database allocation statements (Disaster Recovery)

The RMGR Automatic Delete/Define (DRAMS) utility captures allocation information about IMS database data sets and builds PDS members that contain TSO allocation or IDCAMS delete/define control statements.

This utility helps you to maintain up-to-date allocation information about your IMS data bases. After the utility builds the PDS members, you can refer to this PDS in an RMGR profile and use this profile with the Create Recovery JCL function.

To create allocation JCL

  1. On a regular basis, use the Capture function of the DRAMS utility to capture allocation information to build database allocation statements. For more information, see Automatic-Delete-Define-DRAMS-utility.
  2. If you plan to restore the catalogs but not the database data sets at the DR site, use the DELETENOSCRATCH=YES or DELETENOSCRATCH=BOTH option when you use the Build function of the DRAMS utility to build PDS members.
