Creating disaster recovery profiles
Profiles contain information about the utilities you have installed and indicate how RMGR should use the utilities to process groups.
In addition to the profiles you have defined for recovery at your home site, you should create one or more profiles specifically for DR.
To create DR profiles, perform the following steps:
- Create a new profile. For more information, see Working-with-profiles.
- If you have been creating secondary image copy and log data sets, turn on use of secondary image copy and secondary log data sets for recovery in the new profile. Or, if you are using the Recovery Extensions feature of the BMC Recovery utility, leave the secondary image copy and log options blank so that the Create Recovery JCL function can obtain the information from the global options module of the utility.
- Specify the correct global options module names for DR.
- Review the output device for change accumulation. At the DR site, you may need to use a disk device instead of a tape device, or tape instead of disk.
- Review SORT parameters for the DR site. You may need to make them larger or smaller than the parameters you use at the home site.
- Review the AMSPDS data sets for the appropriate PDSs. Make sure that the profile specifies the same PDS that contains the output from the Build function of the DRAMS utility.
- Specify YES for the Create Restart RVP JCL option if you want the BMC Recovery utility JCL to contain statements that enable automatic restart. You must also specify a checkpoint model name and, optionally, names for extract change accumulation and extract log models.
