System x37 ABENDs

In the event of a System B37 or D37 ABEND on an output sequential file managed by QUICKSTART, the QUICKSTART-provided utility SAMGENER must be used to copy the “problem” dataset to another, larger, dataset that can contain more data and will not incur the same ABEND. The JCL for SAMGENER is identical to that of the IBM Utility program IEBGENER, differing only by the Program Name, which must be “SAMGENER”.

SAMGENER also has user exit capabilities to alter or remove bad data on an input file. In addition, for rerun rather than restart capabilities, all non-processed input records can be copied off to another file and output files can be truncated at the point of the last checkpoint. For more information regarding use of the SAMGENER Utility Program, see SAMGENER-Copying-manipulating-sequential-files-between-restarts.
