DBMS specific considerations


This section presents a series of considerations which apply to the various Host DBMSs under which the QUICKSTART for MVS product and application programs can execute. The Sections of this topic describe some of the operating constraints inherent with these DBMSs and the effect they have on the application program and on QUICKSTART.

There are a number of features in this section that are no longer supported by QUICKSTART. The documentation of these features is provided as a convenience for those customers running older releases of QUICKSTART and are intended for downward compatibility reference only. These features include the following DBMS types: IMS, ADABAS, ORACLE, IDMS, and Datacom that are discussed in this section.

The reader is encouraged to study the application program currently being worked on and determine the necessary DBMS(s) with which the application program must interact. Following these determinations, the reader should proceed to the appropriate sections of this topic.
