Frequently asked questions
Here are some frequently asked questions (FAQs) about QUICKSTART:
- Why do I get only (INIT) and (FINL) checkpoints?
The program probably is not running long enough, so the site minimum value is preventing the checkpoint from occurring. Add additional data to be processed or alter the site minimum value.
For Transparent mode, the DRIVER DD statement may have been specified incorrectly. Ensure that the correct DRIVER DD statement was specified correctly. - What is our site’s high-level qualifier (HLQ)?
To review this and all site options for QUICKSTART, invoke the QUICKSTART Main Menu (QUICKSTART Main Menu) and select option 3 (configure) followed by option 1 (display). - Why doesn’t my program restart after an abend?
(It starts from the beginning.)Review the job log to make sure the previous execution took at least one userrequested checkpoint (not an INIT checkpoint or FINL checkpoint). - Does the checkpoint have to occur in the main program?
No, but for API mode, you need to identify the working storage where the checkpoint occurs. For more information, see Using. - What should the checkpoint frequency be?
This depends on many factors at your site, including scheduling and resource contention. For more information, see Using. Why do I get DB2 connect errors when using the DYNAM compile option? You are probably getting DB2 connect errors because the STEPLIB DD statement, the JOBLIB DD statement, or both are in the wrong order of library concatenation. The QUICKSTART load libraries must appear before the DB2 load libraries when used with BATCHCAF. If the BIND fails, the QSSTAT plan probably is not included.
