Accessing the Database Zap utility

To access the Database Zap utility, perform the following steps:

  1. Access the BMC Software IMS DBU Product Selection Menu.
  2. Type s next to Data Integrity Products.
  3. Press Enter.
  4. Select option 1 to access the PCP primary menu.
  5. Supply the IMSID, the DBD library name, and the PCP global options library name in the fields at the bottom of the PCP primary menu.
  6. Select option 6 to access the Database Zap Utility panel.
  7. Provide the DBD name of the database and the ddname of the data set; the data set name (optional; it can be dynamically allocated); the access address (optional depending on circumstance); and the data set names of other libraries that contain control blocks and other definitions necessary to access the database.

You can also provide the name of a data set to contain change tracking records; if you omit the change data set name and you later edit a segment or block, the Database Zap utility gives you another chance to enter a library name before you save the change.

  8. Press Enter. The Database Zap utility displays the Segment or Block panel.

Using-the-ISPF-interface describes the BMC Software IMS DBU Product Selection Menu and the PCP primary menu. The following sections describe the Database Zap Utility panel and two related panels—the Data Set Allocation panel and the Data Set Allocation Error panel.
