Setting options at the DBD level

When you set options at the DBD level, the ISPF interface saves the set of values as a member in the PDX data set you specified on the PCP primary menu.

During execution of the pointer checking process against the DBD, PCP retrieves the associated DBD options member from the PDX.

The option values initially displayed for a new DBD options member are the default values specified in the global options module for the IMSID specified on the PCP primary menu. If no global options module exists for this IMSID, the displayed options came from the PCPPARMS module. If PCPPARMS has not been created, the displayed values are the PCP internal default values.

The following general procedure outlines how to create a new DBD options member through the ISPF interface:

  1. Access the BMC Software IMS DBU Product Selection Menu panel.
  2. Select option 6 to access the PCP primary menu.
  3. On the PCP primary menu, type or verify the IMSID, the name of the DBD library, the name of the PDX data set, and the name of the library that contain the global options modules, typically the BMC Software load library.
  4. Select option 2. PCP displays the Options by DBD Name panel.
  5. Verify or type over the option values shown. Use the END command to saves the new module and returns to the Global Options List panel.

The following sections discuss the global options module panels in more detail. See Using-the-ISPF-interface for information about the BMC Software IMS DBU Product Selection Menu, the PCP primary menu, and the general use of the ISPF interface.
