Building data set names
When adding or changing the space monitor setup information for a DBD, PCPSPACE searches various areas (depending on control statement keywords, JCL, etc.) to build the database data set name(s).
It uses the first data set name it finds.
- First it scans the job step JCL for the ddname specified in the DBD. If found, it uses the data set name provided with that DD statement.
- If you specify DBRC(Y) on the SETUP control statement, PCPSPACE uses the data set name defined in the database data set record in the RECON data sets (created with an INIT.DBDS command).
- If you provide an MDALIB DD statement in the JCL, PCPSPACE searches this library for the dynamic allocation member for the database it is processing. If it finds the dynamic allocation member, it uses the data set named in the member.
- PCPSPACE builds a data set name from the values of the DSN keyword on the SETUP control statement.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
