Space threshold values

You can set the following space threshold values for the data set.

The panel displays one set of these fields for each data set group defined for the database.

The initial value in the numeric fields is 0 (do not monitor the item). The initial value in the Warn on Last Extent field is NO.

% CI Splits

For a VSAM KSDS, type or verify one of the following values to set the threshold percentage of CI splits:

  • 0

Do not monitor the percentage of CI splits.

  • nn

Issue an exception condition if the number of CI splits exceeds nn percent of the used CIs, where nn is 1-99.

% CA Splits

For a VSAM KSDS, type or verify one of the following values to set the threshold percentage of CA splits:

  • 0

Do not monitor the percentage of CA splits.

  • nn

Issue an exception condition if the number of CA splits exceeds nn percent of the used CAs, where nn is 1-99.

% Space Used

Type or verify one of the following values to set the threshold percentage of space used. PCPSPACE calculates space used by dividing the blocks used by the blocks allocated.

  • 0

Do not monitor the percentage of space used.

  • nn

Allow nn percent of the database space to be used before generating an exception condition, where nn is 1-99.

Used Extents

Type or verify one of the following values to set the threshold maximum number of used extents:

  • 0

Do not monitor the number of used extents.

  • nn

Allow nn extents to be used before generating an exception condition, where nn is 1-16 for OSAM and 1-123 for VSAM.

Available Extents

Type or verify one of the following values to set the threshold minimum number of available extents on current or candidate volumes:

  • 0

Do not monitor the number of available extents.

  • nn

Allow a minimum of nn extents to be available before generating an exception condition, where nn is 1-16 for OSAM and 1-123 for VSAM.

For an explanation of how PCP computes the number of available extents, see the description of THRESH AVAILEXT in Control-statement-keywords1. This value is ignored if the data set is managed by the IBM Storage Management Subsystem (SMS).

Warn on Last Extent

Type or verify one of the following values to control whether PCP issues a warning message when the database data set is occupying its last extent:

  • YES

Issue a warning on the last extent.

  • NO

Do not issue a warning on the last extent.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
