MULTSTEP

PCP provides a method for hash checking the pointers between related databases that are processed in separate job steps. These job steps can be in the same or different jobs; if they are in different jobs, you must halt update activity to achieve valid results.

Note

The multiple-step method is not as efficient as validating the databases in one job step since it requires the overhead of reading and writing pointer data to an external data set.

This option requires the use of the PCPMSTEP DD statement. For complete information and examples, refer to Hash-checking-pointers-across-multiple-job-steps.

Note

This option is not available under the Full Checking technique.

Uses

You can set the MULTSTEP option only on the GLBL control statement.
