JCL considerations

  • DD1 must follow standard JCL requirements to uniquely identify the data set.

    DD2 must follow DBRC requirements to validate the data set when operating under the following:

    • IMS Version 1.3
    • any version of IMS with NOCATDS

    DBRC validation includes file sequence number, volume serial, and unit.

  • If the image copy is a multivolume data set, the volume serial must be specified as VOL=SER=(123456,123457) instead of VOL=REF=*DD1. This is required because the operating system passes only the last volume referenced by DD1.
  • If DBRC is active, use GENJCL.RECOV to generate the volume serial number and file sequence number from the RECON data sets.
