Interacting with the Operator and IMS
These topics describe how to use the Automated Operator Interface (AOI) and IMS Command Entry features with the BMC Image Copy utility of the
BMC AMI Backup and Recovery for IMS
product and the IMAGE COPY PLUS (ICP) product.
You can interact with Image Copy utility jobs in several ways:
- You can use the Automated Operator Interface (AOI).
- You can use IMS Command Entry feature.
- You can set up the utility to allow the operator to handle dynamic allocation errors.
The IMS Command Entry feature does not cause the program to wait until the issued command completes successfully. The AOI causes the program to wait until the command completes successfully. You should use the AOI when stopping and starting the database (where successful command completion is critical), and use the IMS Command Entry feature for other less critical commands.
