Space announcement We are no longer updating this space, and you cannot comment on this space. The IMAGE COPY PLUS component is now documented in BMC AMI Backup and Recovery for IMS.

SNAPSHOT keyword

Use the SNAPSHOT keyword to invoke the Snapshot Copy function.

For more information, see Overview-of-Snapshot-Copy-function.

Important

  • BMC recommends that you specify AOI(Y) when you request Snapshot Copy image copies.
  • When DBQUISCE(Y) is selected, both the Instant Snapshot and the Snapshot Copy functions are not supported.

Uses

Optional in global options modules. Optional on the following control statements:

  • GLBL
  • GROUP
  • IC and AIC
If you specify the SNAPSHOT keyword on the IC or AIC control statement, the Image Copy utility issues a /DBD or /DBR command for the database and creates a batch image copy.
  • OIC and AOIC
If you specify the SNAPSHOT keyword on the OIC or AOIC control statement, the Image Copy utility does not issue the /DBD or /DBR command but freezes the database at a point in time to create a fuzzy image copy.

Related keywords

Refer to the following keywords:

  • AOI
  • CMD
  • CONSIST
The default value for the CONSIST keyword is GLOBAL if SNAPSHOT(P) or SNAPSHOT(R) is specified on the GLBL statement.
  • DBR
  • DBRC
DBRC(Y) is required when you specify SNAPSHOT(P) or SNAPSHOT(R)
  • DSSNAP
Do not specify the DSSNAP keyword if you specify the SNAPSHOT keyword.
  • FEOV
  • IRLMGRP
  • STA
  • XBMSSID
The XBMSSID keyword is required when you specify SNAPSHOT(P) or SNAPSHOT(R).
  • DBUSSID
This keyword can be specified if you want to use the Database Utilities Subsystem (DBUSS) to obtain the required APF authorization for the job step.

Syntax

SNAPSHOT(value)

Values

Specify one of the following values:

  • N—Do not invoke the Snapshot Copy function.
  • P—After the image copy process has begun, if Snapshot Copy processing fails for any reason related to the SNAPSHOT UPGRADE FEATURE for IMS component, create an online image copy. If any DBRC authorization problems occur, the job abends and any active Snapshot Copy processing terminates.
  • R—A batch image copy is required. Terminate Snapshot Copy processing if an error is detected.

Default

SNAPSHOT(N)
