Backout function overview

The Backout function backs out (reverts) changes that are made during the online restructure process.

You can use the function to back out changes and restore your database to its original state if the following conditions exist:

  • An error occurred during the online restructure process.
  • You do not want to use the Restart function.

Note

Fast Path Online Restructure/EP does not bring the areas back online after the Backout function completes.

The Backout function processes the Restructure Plan data set and the Restructure Activity data set that is created by the PREPARE command. When backout processing is complete, the following actions occur:

  • PFPPRINT contains messages (as needed).
  • Area data sets are reset to their original names.
  • DBRC registrations are reset to their original values.
