Authorizing the User ID for the Console
If the CONSOLE class is active in RACF, the user ID associated with the BMC IMS Software Server (BISS) must have authority for the console.
When you start the BISS as a started task, the BISS creates an extended MCS console that is used exclusively by BMC products. The console issues commands and retrieves responses for the commands. The BISS issues the commands using the authority of the user ID running the product using the BISS.
The BISS will generate a name for the console that includes the:
- Name of BISS
- SMFID of the LPAR
For example, if the ID of the BISS is BISS and the SMFID is SYSA, BISS generates BISSSYSA.
For the user ID or the group ID that includes the user ID, you must:
- Associate the console with the ID.
- Grant READ authority to the ID for the console.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
