Deleting Custom Hardware Dictionaries

To confirm the request to delete the Custom Hardware Dictionary, complete the following steps:

  1. Selecting option 4 (Delete) and specifying a Custom Hardware Dictionary name for the selection criteria displays the Custom Hardware Dictionary Record DELETE Confirmation panel shown in Figure 1.

  2. Review the data to be deleted and select an option to confirm or cancel the delete request. Type 1 to delete the entries or 2 to cancel the request.The Custom Hardware Dictionary records and all registration and statistics records corresponding to the dictionary are listed. Only the Custom Hardware Dictionary records are deleted. The registration and statistics records are updated to reflect the Static Huffman technique.

    Warning

    Before you delete the Custom Hardware Dictionary, be sure you do not need the dictionary to expand any data. If you have compressed data using the Custom Hardware Dictionary, the data cannot be expanded after you delete the dictionary.

  3. If you type 1 and then press Enter to process the request, this panel is displayed again. In the Delete Result field, Deleted is displayed for every dictionary record deleted and Updated is displayed for every registration record updated. Press F3 to return to the DPICDS Administration panel (see Specifying-selection-criteria-and-process). If you type 2 and press Enter, you are returned to the DPICDS Administration panel.

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
