Commands for registering records

There are seven commands which are used to register and administer records in the DPICDS:

  • ADD
  • UPDATE
  • REPLACE
  • DELETE
  • DISPLAY
  • RESET
  • RENAME

These commands can be applied to all three types of registration records (system, database, and segment entries).

The ADD, UPDATE, REPLACE, and RESET commands affect records only at the RUN level.

The RENAME, DELETE, and DISPLAY commands affect records at all three levels (STAGE, RUN, and ARCHIVE).

Keyword parameters are used to qualify the commands. In the discussion of the commands, the keywords applicable to each command are mentioned. A complete description of the keywords is included in the section Keyword-definitions.

A syntax diagram is included for each command. For an explanation of the conventions used in the syntax diagrams, see Using-the-ISPF-interface For an explanation of how to code the command statements, see Coding-commands-and-control-statements.
