PDX Allocate and Format
If you enter a non-existent PDX library name on the Profile Default Options panel, an error message is displayed at the bottom of the panel.
When you press Enter, the PDX Allocate and Format panel (see the following figure) is displayed. Allocate the PDX data set using this panel, or press the END key to return to the Profile Default Options panel without allocating the data set. Use the following fields on this panel.
Field | Description |
---|---|
PDX Data Set Name | Type the name of the PDX data set to allocate and format. |
Record Length | The record length must be 512. This value cannot be changed. |
Block Size | Type the block size (512-32256). This value must be an even multiple of 512. |
Volume Serial | Type the volume serial number where the PDX data set is to be allocated. |
Unit Name | Type the unit name of the volume serial number. |
Allocation Quantity | Type the number of tracks or cylinders that you are allocating. |
Allocation Units | Type TRKS or CYLS to indicate that the value in the Allocation Quantity field is in tracks or cylinders. |
Key Length | The key length must be 32. This value cannot be changed. |
Directory Tracks | Enter a value (1-999) to indicate the number of directory tracks. Normally the directory should occupy 5 to 10 percent of the total allocation amount (for example, 1 directory track for a space quantity of 10 tracks). |
