UNIT keyword


Use the UNIT keyword to specify the device unit name to use for a new output data set that uses the associated dynamic allocation model.

You can also use this keyword to specify the number of physical units to allocate.

When you use this keyword to allocate stacked output data sets, the unit name must be a class that refers to tape devices.

Values

Specify one of the following values:

unitName

Specify the unit name (1-8 alphanumeric characters).

unitName,count

Specify the unit name (1-8 alphanumeric characters) and the number (1-59) of devices to allocate. For a tape device type, the utility automatically limits the count to 2.

Important

On the ISPF panel, the unit count is a separate field from the unit name.
