DBUSSID keyword
The DBUSSID keyword identifies the subsystem ID of the Database Utilities Subsystem (DBUSS).
You can use the DBUSS to establish an authorized environment for the utility.
An authorized environment eliminates the following operational problems associated with dynamic allocation:
When dynamic allocation attempts to allocate a device and no device is currently available, the operating system issues this message: REPLY device name OR CANCEL.
The generally preferred message is as follows: REPLY device name, WAIT, OR CANCEL
The operating system only issues the generally preferred message when the caller is authorized.
- After the Change Accumulation utility reads and demounts a log tape volume, an operating system enqueue is retained for the tape volume. Consequently, the tape volumes are not available to other jobs until the Change Accumulation utility step completes. By authorizing the step, the tape volumes can be dequeued at dismount time, making the volumes immediately available to other jobs.
