CASPACE keyword

The CASPACE keyword specifies, for new output change accumulation data sets, the amount of DASD space to allocate for a non-SMS data set or to override the space allocation defined in the DATACLAS (data class) for an SMS data set.

See also the SPACE parameter in the operating system documentation from IBM.

Syntax

  • CASPACE(u,n,n)—for type, primary, and secondary allocation
  • CASPACE(u,n)—for type and primary allocation
  • CASPACE( )

Values

Select from the following:

u

1-8 alphanumeric characters. The unit to use for allocating the output space. Cylinders (C or CYL), tracks (T or TRK), or a number (1-65535).

If you specify a number, its meaning is defined by the CAAVGREC keyword. If you specify U, K, or M and SMS is active, the Change Accumulation utility interprets u as the average record length. Otherwise, it interprets u as the average block length.

, n

Numeric (1-16777215). The number of primary units to allocate.

,, n

Numeric (1-16777215). The number of secondary units to allocate.

( )

Blank. Use DATACLAS defaults for SMS data sets; use operating system defaults for non-SMS data sets.
