Index Rebuild function

If the primary or secondary index of a full-function database is lost or damaged, the Index Rebuild function allows you to rebuild the index instead of recovering it from an image copy.

Through the Index Rebuild function, the BMC AMI Backup and Recovery for IMS products automatically handle the rebuilding of indexes and registration of virtual image copies for these indexes. For more information, see Virtual-image-copies-and-the-Index-Rebuild-function.

The Index Rebuild function for full-function databases is offered in two versions, Extended Performance (EP) and Classic. The primary difference is that the EP version is faster and is used if any HALDBs are being processed. The EP version is available with the following BMC products:

  • BMC AMI Backup and Recovery for IMS
  • BMC AMI Online Reorg for IMS
  • BMC AMI Reorg for IMS
  • MAXM Reorg/EP with Online/Defrag Feature
  • CONCURRENT REORG
  • SECONDARY INDEX UTILITY/EP

The Classic version is available with the following BMC products:

  • MAXM Reorg
  • MAXM Reorg with Online/Defrag Feature
  • SECONDARY INDEX UTILITY

The Index Rebuild function for Fast Path DEDBs is available with the BMC AMI Fast Path Indexer for IMS product.
