Why /STO TRAN, etc. Commands are Prohibited

The standard IMS commands for changing the Start/Stop status of Transactions and Programs should not  be used under a COPE system, because they would have an effect across Lsys's. The following IMS commands should not be used:

/STATRAN .. use COPE SS "S"
/STA PROG .. use COPE SS "S" (on the Tran)
/RST .. use COPE SS "S" (no different from /STA)
/STO TRAN .. use COPE SS "P"
/STO PROG .. use COPE SS "P" (stops the Tran)

The COPE equivalent commands internally generate the appropriate IMS command, and also provide a "Stopped" status at the Lsys level, which is necessary so that Lsys' do not interfere with each other.

In special test situations, you may need to PSTOP a transaction so that you can create a queue of transactions for testing program reusability (for example). In such a case, the IMS /PST command can be used, but with caution, because it PSTOPs the transaction in all Lsys'.
