Update Parameters for Tools Supported by COPE

The following is the process to update these  parameters

  1. On the COPE ISPF Development System dialog, enter EVARS on the command  line.
  2. Change parameters as appropriate and save the changes (PF3).
  3. Go to COPE ISPF option 10 (Generate Environment Member after Changes to ZDEFAULT) and run the created job.
  4. Go to COPE ISPF option and run the generated job .

IBM BTS

The IBM® IMS™ Batch Terminal Simulator for z/OS® V4.1 (also referred to as IMS Batch Terminal Simulator or BTS) product and the BMC COPE product have been modified so that they may work together.

IBM BTS PTF UI57743 is required and a COPE exit must be link-edited with BTS after this PTF is implemented.

BTS with the installed exit will allow BTS definitions to use User PSB and MFS names and will allow tests to take place in different COPE Logical Systems (environments). The intent is to make a BTS execution under a COPE Logical System, identical to the same execution in a separate non-COPE IMS system.

Task 6.7  Enable BTS Support

  1. Access COPE ISPF and enter EVARS on the prime menu.
  2. Specify the XBTSLIB and XFORMAT, XFORMAT1, XFORMAT2 variables as follows:

Note

Note the XFORMAT, XFORMAT1, and XFORMAT2 parameters must be added. The XBTSLIB parameter should exist.

       3. Save the change.

       4. Go to COPE ISPF option 10 (Generate Environment Member after Changes to ZDEFAULT) and run the job created.

Use sample member BTSEXIT in the JCL dataset to link-edit the exit with BTS. The BTSLIB, IMSLIB and COPELIB variables must be changed and the job executed to add the COPE exit to  BTS.

Note

As always, it is a good idea to have a backup of these libraries prior to updating them.

  1. Copy Member BTSEXIT from the JCL library to the xcope2.JCL library.
  2. Modify member BTSEXIT according to the comments in the job as appropriate in the JCL library.
  3. Submit modified member This job will update COPE and BTS SBTSLMD0 libraries.
