Executing hash checking as a stand-alone utility


In certain situations, you might want to run 

Pointer Checker

 as a stand-alone utility.

In stand-alone mode, you can use either the Hash Checking technique or the Full Checking technique. This topic discusses executing the Hash Checking technique.

If you need to execute Pointer Checker as a stand-alone utility and use the database data set(s) as input, BMC Software strongly recommends that you use the Database Utilities Subsystem (DBUSS) for fast I/O processing. The DBUSS significantly enhances the performance of Pointer Checker. For more information about the DBUSS, refer to the BMC Products for IMS Installation Guide.
