CHK SYMBLP

Under the Full Checking technique, 

Pointer Checker

 can validate symbolic logical parent (LP) pointers if they meet all of the following conditions:

  • The target is a root segment.
  • The target key is not compressed.
  • There is no equivalent direct pointer to get to the target.

This validation requires additional sort work areas (SYMBWKnn), which Pointer Checker dynamically allocates if you omit the DD statements.

Use the CHK SYMBLP option to control whether Pointer Checker performs this validation.

Warning

Note

This option is not available when you use the Hash Checking technique.

You can set the CHK SYMBLP option at the following levels:

  • Global options module
  • Generated JCL
  • GLBL control statement
  • CHECK control statement
  • CHECKALL control statement

Specify one of the following values:

  • YES or Y

    Validate symbolic logical parent pointers.

  • NO or N

    Do not validate symbolic logical parent pointers.
