Using a partition selection routine
A partition selection routine can be used to select the partition for both Fast Path and full function databases. The randomizing routine is called after the partition selection routine to randomize within the partition. The number of blocks passed to the randomizing routine is the number root addressable blocks in the partition selected.
When converting to a partition selection routine for a HDAM database, the unloaded database records should be sorted into partition selection routine order. Refer the MAXM Reorg for IMS documentation for information on the SORT command.
Coding the Partition Selection Routine
The interface to the Partition Selection Routine uses the DFSPECA control block used by IMS HALDBs. A sample routine, PDFPSEL, is in the PDF CNTL data set.
