Sharing data
A partitioned database can use either DATABASE or BLOCK level data sharing. You can use N-way data sharing, so up to 32 IMS systems can share the database.
Using XRF
Partitioned databases do not support XRF. The DDIR Extension is used to track and log the AMPs for the XRF Alternate. The DDIR Extension has room for 10 AMPs only. Increasing the number of AMPs tracked by XRF requires an IMS ALL GEN, which affects the size of the ‘4006’ checkpoint record.
Instead of allowing fewer number of partitions, XRF is not supported. The IPFxxxx member NOINIT parameter allows an IMS DB/DC or DBCTL system with XRF to initialize without using partitioned databases.
Using FDBR
Partitioned databases support Fast Database Recovery (FDBR).
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
