Integrating BMC AMI Ops Extensions for IMS TM
To integrate the products in the BMC AMI Ops Extensions for IMS TM solution, use the BMC AMI Ops Monitor for IMS Online interface. This interface integrates the log analysis features of the BMC AMI Log Analyzer for IMS product for your use in diagnosing problems.
The integration with BMC AMI Log Analyzer for IMS enables you to gather information from the log records of IMS transactions to identify and resolve problems that relate to:
- System log data sets (SLDS)
- Transaction abends
- Transactions identified from a summary trace
The integration is facilitated by:
- The Log Analyzer Interface view (IMVILUI), which collects data based on a selected query
- An interface dialog that enables access to both the JCL Generator and the BMC AMI Log Analyzer for IMS
For any SLDS or transaction you want to examine, you can:
- Collect and isolate all of the diagnostic data you need to identify the source of problems
- Generate JCL and submit jobs that enable analysis that can resolve issues quickly and reduce application outage times
- Access the BMC AMI Log Analyzer for IMS product with pre-loaded data gathered by the Log Analyzer Interface view (IMVILUI)
To get started, use one of the following source views to identify the SLDS or transaction you want to examine and then hyperlink to the Log Analyzer Interface view (IMVILUI) as shown in the following table:
To examine | Use the following view |
---|---|
System log data sets | Query RECON SLDS view (IDBRSLDS) You can hyperlink from any data set name to access the Log Analyzer Interface view (IMVILUI). |
Transaction abends | Transactions by abend, real time view (ITRABEND) For any abend, you can hyperlink from the Sys Code or User Code field to access the Log Analyzer Interface view (IMVILUI). |
Transactions identified from a summary trace | Trace Summary view (ITASUM) For any transaction, hyperlink from the LUI JCL field to access the Log Analyzer Interface view (IMVILUI). |
The Log Analyzer Interface view (IMVILUI) collects applicable data that is needed for the examination as follows:
- IMS ID and version
- RECON dataset
- SLDS dataset
- UOW
- Start/Stop date and time of a SLDS or transaction
- PSB name, Userid, and Transaction Name
The Log Analyzer Interface view (IMVILUI) contains a hyperlink to BMC AMI Log Analyzer for IMS Interface dialog, where you can:
- Set up an IMS REXX EXEC to dynamically invoke the BMC AMI Log Analyzer for IMS ISPF interface
- Build JCL to generate summary and detail reports
- Build index files for use in BMC AMI Log Analyzer for IMS
- Access BMC AMI Log Analyzer for IMS with the index file pre-loaded for use in the product
