Reorganizing logically related databases

If you are reorganizing databases that have logical relationships, restrictions apply.

For Online Reorg function limitations, refer to Online Reorg function—Limitations; for Reorg function limitations, refer to Reorg function—Limitations.

The multi-step reorganization (see Multi-step-reorganization) requires the following post-processing steps.

Required post-processing steps for multi-step reorganization

  1. In the reorganization job JCL, specify SWAP(NO) for each database.
  2. Provide an AMSOUT data set. Specify it in the JCL, or include an AMSOUT option in the global options module.
  3. Execute the reorganization JCL to reorganize each database.
  4. Complete logical relationship prefix processing.
  5. After all databases are reorganized, execute the restart process for each database. The restart process completes the post-processing tasks. See Restart-process.
  6. Issue the following DBRC command to authorize each database:

    CHANGE.DB DBD(YOURDBD) AUTH
