Reorganizing logically related databases
If you are reorganizing databases that have logical relationships, restrictions apply.
For Online Reorg function limitations, refer to Online Reorg function—Limitations; for Reorg function limitations, refer to Reorg function—Limitations.
The multi-step reorganization (see Multi-step-reorganization) requires the following post-processing steps.
Required post-processing steps for multi-step reorganization
- In the reorganization job JCL, specify SWAP(NO) for each database.
- Provide an AMSOUT data set. Specify it in the JCL, or include an AMSOUT option in the global options module.
- Execute the reorganization JCL to reorganize each database.
- Complete logical relationship prefix processing.
- After all databases are reorganized, execute the restart process for each database. The restart process completes the post-processing tasks. See Restart-process.
Issue the following DBRC command to authorize each database:
CHANGE.DB DBD(YOURDBD) AUTH
