Overview
A one millisecond longer response time can be a problem when you are processing millions of transactions each day. If a transaction times out, you need to instantly determine where the delay happened so that you can fix the problem before errors start to snowball. Real-time analytics can help correlate input from multiple sources so that you can monitor response time and get the full end-to-end view of the transaction progression.
How BMC AMI Datastream for IMS works
BMC AMI Datastream for IMS can obtain real-time information from the IMS log stream, without waiting for each IMS OLDS log data file to be finalized and closed:
- BMC AMI Datastream for IMS watches the log data created in the IMS control region and copies information of interest (based on your data-filter setup) to the exchange buffers to be processed by a BMC AMI Datastream for IMSserver.
- The BMC AMI Datastream for IMS server processes and formats the selected information.
- The server forwards the formatted data via TCP/IP to the required analytic engine, or to an intermediate data set that you select.
Benefits of BMC AMI Datastream for IMS
The BMC AMI Datastream for IMS product enables you to:
- Get real-time IMS log information for the selected log record types, formatted for your analytics engines and event management (SIEM) tools, so that you can make instant decisions. (Security-related log data can also be passed to the BMC AMI Datastream for IBM Z/OS system and the AMI Command Center. )
- Get a clearer view of trends and patterns to learn deeper insights about your operations.
- Harvest the data safely and securely with almost no impact on the transaction processing times.
- Extract data without using the IMS log exit and thereby avoid the risks and costs associated with the exit.
- Extract data using virtually undetectable overhead, avoiding additional CPU charges and processing delays.
- Use intelligent two-phase filtering to get just the data you need to make better business decisions and thus helps you lower usage costs for ingestion-based analytics engines.
