Label verification messages

If the DBD being used to access the database does not match the label stored in the label data set, Database Integrity takes action according to the Label Mismatch Action option you have set on the Change/Review Global Member panel or Label Change/Review panel.

It can reset the DBRC return code to deny DBRC authorization or issue warning messages and replace the label. In all cases, it issues messages to let you know that it has encountered a problem.

The messages list the specific fields that are different in the DMB and the label, as well as the actual values found in the DMB and label. For complete descriptions of these messages, see  Message library.

The destination of the label verification messages issued by Database Integrity depends on the environment in which the application or utility program is running. All messages appear in the SYSLOG, regardless of environment. You can also find Database Integrity messages in the following areas:

  • At start up of an IMS/DC environment, Database Integrity issues several types of messages in the DBRC region. These messages report the label data set name and the status of label verification.
  • If a label mismatch occurs for an application program running in an IMS/DC environment, Database Integrity issues additional messages to the JESLOG and DBIPRINT data sets of the DBRC region. They indicate the differences between the label and the DMB, and they indicate the action Database Integrity took in response to the error (deny authorization or replace the label). If authorization is denied, the DBRC authorization failure message, with a reason code of $$, is issued to the control region and the database is stopped.
  • In an IMS/DB environment, Database Integrity issues label data set and status messages to the JESLOG, JES messages, and DBIPRINT data sets. If a label mismatch occurs, it also issues messages reporting label/DMB differences and the response to the error.
