Mapping control block objects

Database Integrity can map a DBD, a DBD-type ACB, one or more PCBs within a PSB, or the database PCBs within a PSB-type ACB.

You can map one or more control blocks with each request initiated from an ISPF panel or a batch control statement.

Mapping control blocks is simple in both interactive and batch modes:

  1. Specify the member name(s) of the control block(s) you want to map and the data set name of the library containing them.
  2. Database Integrity disassembles the control block as explained in Disassembling-control-blocks-using-BMC-AMI-Database-Integrity-for-IMS. Then it determines the position of each segment in the structure, based on the segment code, hierarchical level, and logical relationship information coded in the source statements.
  3. Database Integrity produces the Map report showing the structure of the control block. Since this report is generated with standard text characters, you don’t need a graphics-capable terminal or printer. The report is identical whether you request it through the ISPF or batch interface. Through the ISPF interface, however, you can do related tasks from the report panel.

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
