Performing trial compression using the Trial utility

To run the Trial utility, select option 5 (Trial Utility) on the Data Packer primary menu shown in Using-the-BMC-AMI-Data-Packer-for-IMS-Primary-Menu.

When you select this option, panels are presented, so you can enter the data for the Trial. You indicate the database and the specific segments that you want to include or exclude from the Trial. You also select the compression techniques you want to use in the Trial. You can then qualify the input data and indicate the sample specifications, registration options, and segment options. You must also specify the source for the Trial and the input data sets. To generate the job stream, you must specify the data sets for the JCL and the job statement information. You can then edit the JCL, if necessary, and submit the job. The Trial utility panel flow is shown in the following figure.
