Using the BMC AMI Data Packer for IMS Primary Menu
The
Data Packer
Primary Menu, which is shown in the following figure, is accessed through the ISPF Primary Option Menu or by executing the DPIISPF CLIST.
An overview of the entire Data Packer ISPF interface is shown in Environment-information.
Select an option. Type required DP/IMS datasets.
Then press Enter.

To select options in the Data Packer Primary Menu
Select one of the following options from the Data Packer Primary Menu:
Option
Description
1. DPICDS Administration
Select this option to add, change, display, delete, or list entries in your DPICDS. For more information, see ISPF-registration.
2. Promote, demote and copy
Select this option to migrate registration records from one level to another or from one DPICDS to another. For more information, see Migrating-records.
3. Compression statistics
Select this option to display, generate a list of, or reset the compression statistics for a given entry. For more information, see Displaying-and-resetting-compression-statistics.
4. DPICDS list
Select this option to sort and list records in the DPICDS in short, long, or expanded form. See Listing-records-in-the-DPICDS for more information.
5. Trial utility
Select this option to access a series of input panels used to generate Trial utility JCL. You can also use this JCL to build Shared Tables and Custom Hardware Dictionaries. For more information, see ISPF-trial-compression.
6. Profile options
Select this option to customize your ISPF panels for Command line placement, function keys, field delimiters, character padding, sound, and colors. For more information, see Profile-Options-panel.
7. CPU ID
Select this option to access the ISPF panels for online product authorization.
8. Tutorial
Select this option to access information on the panel functions and options. You can access tutorial information at any point in the online process. Press F1, or the key assigned as the HELP key, to display an online help message. Press F1 a second time to display the tutorial corresponding to the panel. You can also type HELP on the Command line.
9. Exit
Select this option to exit from Data Packer.
(required if you select options 1 through 5) Type data set names in the DP/IMS Datasets fields. The first two data sets are required and identify the names of the data sets containing DPICDS and DPITBL information; the third data set is optional and contains the DBDs:
Data set
Description
DPICDS
(Required) Type the name of the Data Packer control data set.
DPITBL
(Required) Type the name of the Data Packer table data set. This data set contains the table load modules for Custom Huffman tables, Shared Tables, and Custom Hardware Dictionaries.
DBDLIB
(Optional) Type the name of the DBDLIB containing the DBDs. If the DBD is present in the specified DBDLIB, all panels that provide segment lists will display the segments in hierarchical order. If you do not specify a DBDLIB, the segment list is displayed alphabetically.
