VERIFY keyword

Use the VERIFY keyword to ensure that specified information about certain input data sets matches the information that DBRC has recorded about those data sets.

Eligible types of data sets include input change accumulation, image copy, and log data sets, as applicable for the utility function that you are running. The verified information includes the data set name, unit type, and volume serial number.

Warning

Bypassing DBRC verification of input change accumulation, image copy, or log data sets can cause data integrity exposures. In most cases, BMC recommends that you do not specify VERIFY(N).

Uses

Optional on the following control statements:

  • GLBL
  • GROUP

Related keywords

Refer also to the following keywords:

  • DBRC keyword
  • EXTLOG keyword
  • NEWLOG keyword
  • NOTIFY keyword—VERIFY(N) and NOTIFY(Y) are not compatible; if you specify these values in the same job step, the utility continues but issues a warning message.

Syntax

VERIFY(value)

Values

Specify one of the following values:

Y

Verify input image copy, change accumulation, and log data sets (as applicable) against the DBRC information for those data sets. VERIFY(Y) is required for dynamic allocation of the input data set. VERIFY(Y) is ignored if DBRC is not active.

N

Bypass DBRC verification of input image copy, change accumulation, and log data sets (as applicable), and bypass requests to DBRC to update recovery information (as applicable). Specify VERIFY(N) when you use a new log or extract log for input to prevent the Change Accumulation utility from verifying that input log data sets are recorded by DBRC. For more information, see NEWLOG keyword.

Default

VERIFY(Y)
