Processing with the AOIB method
- During program startup, the utility checks the options that you have specified. If you have specified the AOI(B) keyword and have defined the AOI PSB with the default DBU$IMS name or have specified the PSB(psbname) keyword, the utility tries to start the IMS BMP region internally. If the BMP region starts successfully, AOI processing is allowed.
- If the online system or the online IMS group that is identified by the IMSID (which is specified with the IMSID keyword or found in the IMS RESLIB) is not available, the utility takes the action that you have specified by using the OPT keyword (the Wait for Control Region option). The AOI BMP runs for the entire job step; however, the dependent region that it uses is not available for other BMPs while the job step is executing.
- During the authorization process, the Image Copy utility attempts to obtain authorization for the database before using the AOI. (The Recovery utility uses the AOI before attempting to obtain database authorization.) If database authorization fails, the utility issues a WTOR to the operating system console operator. This message is an opportunity for the operator to cancel any further attempts to obtain authorization for the database. Otherwise, the utility issues the request for authorization periodically according to the values that were specified for the AUTHINTV keyword and the CMDWAIT keyword. The cycle repeats until one of the following events occurs:
- Authorization is obtained from DBRC.
- The user-specified limit for attempts is reached.
- The operator replies CANCEL to the outstanding WTOR message.
- When authorization is obtained from DBRC, the utility cancels any pending WTOR reply and continues.
- During database unauthorization, the utility uses the same logic as is does during database authorization, except that the utility issues messages and commands without waiting for confirmation that the actions have completed successfully (there is no retry loop).
