Using early termination support

Early termination support allows you to terminate an application job:

  • At a specified time of the current date
  • (PTFs BQQ4980 and BQQ5039 applied) At a specified time at a later date
  • On command after a checkpoint
  • On command immediately after the next call

Termination after a checkpoint requires no backout because the checkpoint signifies that the changes are committed. Immediate termination requires backout of uncommitted changes. In both cases, all restart information is left intact and ready for restarting the job at the last completed checkpoint.

Note

The application program must use checkpoint/restart services for 

AR/CTL

 to provide early termination support.
