Overview of preparing for dynamic allocation

AR/CTL

 can dynamically allocate all of the data sets it needs during application program execution. This section introduces dynamic allocation records and provides general information about the following data sets that 

AR/CTL

 uses:

  • checkpoint data set (ddname ARCCHKP)
  • existing restart data set (ddname ARCXRST)
  • trace data set (ddname ARCDLTRC)
  • VSAM dynamic backout log (ddname ARVDBLOG)
  • data set/program option library (ddname ARC)
  • AR/CTL procedure library, containing Db2 connection parameters (ddname ARCSSMLB)
  • history data set (ddname ARCHIST)
  • VSAM file control table data set (default ddname ARVFCTAB)
  • remote VSAM APPLID and connection ID library concatenation list (ddname ARV)
