Using BMC Application Director to manage jobs
This chapter contains the detailed instructions for using BMC Application Director for IMS to manage your IMS BMP, IFP, DLI, and DBB jobs.
- Guidelines-for-specifying-commands Many of the functions in the BMC Application Director Management Interface and many of the customization parameters can be overridden in specific jobs using commands.
- Specifying-allow-suspend-and-resume-and-the-types-of-jobs When you customized BMC Application Director for IMS, you specified:
- Suspend-read-only-jobs-using-dynamic-checkpoints BMC Application Director for IMS uses checkpoints to suspend IMS BMP, IFP, DLI, and DBB jobs. Read-only jobs might not take checkpoints. For example, a batch report program does not update the database and is not required to take checkpoints.
- Change-the-options-for-jobstep-TCBs The environment you are using determines whether BMC Application Director for IMS should generate jobstep TCBs or non-jobstep TCBs.
- Suspend-and-resume-jobs Use this topic to suspend or resume:
- Suppressing-excessive-checkpoints1 Most application programs take too many checkpoints. In some cases, it is difficult to predict the duration of a unit-of-work. BMC Application Director for IMS will suppress excessive checkpoints and reduce runtime.
- Overview-of-terminating-BMC-Application-Director-for-IMS-enabled-jobs Use this topic to terminate IMS BMP, DLI, and DBB jobs where BMC Application Director for IMS is enabled. There is only one method for terminating Application Director enabled jobs.
- Override-customization-parameters-and-specifying-processing-options Using the SET command, you can override some of the customization parameters and specify additional processing options (such as the actions to take for error reporting).
