Stage error

Optional for sequential data sets and ASAM data sets; used only if the value of the Stage Output option is Y. Use this option to control the action taken if an error occurs that prohibits AR/CTL from continuing to stage output for the data set. Examples of staging failures include running out of staging space in the data space during a checkpoint interval and failing to obtain a data space during initialization.

Stage error

Values

Set one of the following values:

CONT

Suspend output staging for the remainder of the checkpoint interval or for the job. If possible, AR/CTL resumes staging during the next checkpoint interval. If AR/CTL cannot obtain a data space, it writes to the data set with normal buffering techniques. If the data space cannot hold all records that need staging between checkpoints, AR/CTL suspends staging until the next checkpoint. If the program requests deletion of the staged records (through a ROLL -type call) while staging is suspended, AR/CTL cannot perform the deletion; it issues status code XX indicating that rollback processing was unsuccessful.

ABEND

Abend execution if a staging error occurs.

Default

CONT
