Stage blocks
Optional for sequential data sets and ASAM data sets; used only if the value of the Stage Output option is Y. Use this option to control the number of blocks that AR/CTL obtains for the output staging data space. AR/CTL requests an actual amount of data space storage equal to the number of blocks specified with this option times the data set block size.
MVS may provide a smaller number of blocks than requested; therefore, the size of the staging area is the smaller of the requested number of blocks and the received number of blocks provided by MVS. If the request for data space storage fails, AR/CTL issues a message and does not stage output for the data set. The Stage Error option controls whether the job step continues.
