Managing performance with Performance Advisor

Using the Performance Advisor component, you can create and maintain a Performance Advisor Database (PADB) in Db2.

PADB tables contain the following types of data:

  • Statement and object performance data that BMC AMI Apptune for Db2 collects
  • Errors, exceptions, SQL text, and index usage patterns that Apptune identifies
  • Daily snapshots of real-time statistics (RTS) that Db2 collects
  • Recommendations for improving system and application performance

With this data, you can

  • Identify performance trends
  • Compare recent performance against a baseline
  • Identify usage patterns
  • Implement performance improvements

You can maintain one central PADB (centralized configuration), or a PADB at each Db2 subsystem or data sharing group where data is collected (localized configuration).
