Generating a disaster recovery estimation job using BMC AMI Recovery Manager
Before you begin
Perform the following steps before you run an estimation job:
- Build or revalidate your subsystem object sets.
If you have not yet built subsystem object sets, perform the steps in Task-1-first-time-only-Building-subsystem-object-sets. - Establish a recovery point.
See Task-2-Establishing-a-recovery-point. - Establish the archive log copy options.
See Task-3-Setting-archive-log-copy-options.
To generate a recovery estimation job
- From the main menu, select 6. Subsystem recovery.
- From the Subsystem Recovery Preparation and JCL Generation panel, select 5. Disaster recovery.
- On the Disaster Recovery panel, select 5. Estimate DR Recovery.
The Mirror Strategy panel is displayed. Specify your mirroring strategy as required. (See Task-5-Setting-options-to-generate-simulation-JCL.)
Specify the recovery options for the estimation run on the next series of panels. The panels are identical to those used for simulation. For more information, see Task-5-Setting-options-to-generate-simulation-JCL.
To generate the job now, select 8. Prepare to Recover the DB2 Subsystem (ARMBSRR) and then press Enter.

Specify Options To:
1. Establish a Recovery Point
2. Copy Archive Logs
3. Prepare to Recover the DB2 Subsystem
4. Simulate DR Recovery
5. Estimate DR Recovery (Requires Recovery Management for DB2)
Generate JCL To:
6. Establish a Recovery Point (ARMBLOG or ARMBCRC)
7. Copy the Archive Logs (ARMBARC)
8. Prepare to Recover the Subsystem (ARMBSRR)
9. Generate ALL Disaster Recovery Jobs- On the JCL Specification panel, enter information and press Enter to display the recovery JCL.
- Save the JCL data set, or submit the job.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
