Task 6: Generating the disaster recovery simulation JCL
You can generate these jobs individually, or you can generate them as a single job stream.
The following steps are present in phase1 and 2 JCLS of the Disaster Recovery simulation JCLS generated by ARMBSRR:
- ARMBRDC—consolidate data and create reports (Recovery Management for Db2 solution only)
- ARMBWDC—collect recovery data (Recovery Management for Db2 solution only)
To generate the disaster recovery simulation JCL
- In the BMC AMI Recovery for Db2 Main Menu, select 6. Subsystem recovery and press Enter.
- In the System Recovery Preparation and JCL Generation panel, select 5. Disaster recovery and press Enter.
On the Disaster Recovery panel, select 9. Generate ALL Disaster Recovery Jobs.

Specify Options To:
1. Establish a Recovery Point
2. Copy Archive Logs
3. Prepare to Recover the DB2 Subsystem
4. Simulate DR Recovery
5. Estimate DR Recovery (Requires Recovery Management for DB2)
Generate JCL To:
6. Establish a Recovery Point (ARMBLOG or ARMBCRC)
7. Copy the Archive Logs (ARMBARC)
8. Prepare to Recover the Subsystem (ARMBSRR)
9. Generate ALL Disaster Recovery Jobs- When the JCL Specification panel appears, enter a fully qualified output data set name.Be aware of the following information:
- The output data set is used for saving the JCL and must be cataloged. If not enclosed in quotes, the output data set will be prefixed by your TSO prefix.
- The job statement must contain a symbolic variable (&#) for the job number.
- If you selected Simulate Yes, BMC AMI Recovery Manager appends to the data set name if the final node does not end in SIM or .SIM. If you are using the BMC Recovery Management for Db2 solution and you selected Estimate Yes, BMC AMI Recovery Manager appends .EST to the data set name if the final node does not end in EST or .EST. You must have created these GDG bases previously.
Submit the generated JCL.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
