Task 2: Establishing a recovery point

Use the following procedure to create a log analysis JCL that you can use to establish a recovery point for a disaster recovery simulation.

If you want to recover to the end of the last archived log, you do not need to perform this task.

Important

If used in a data-sharing environment, BMC AMI Recovery Manager generates the necessary JCL to establish a coordinated recovery point for all data-sharing members.

To establish a recovery point

  1. In the BMC AMI Recovery for Db2 Main Menu, select 6. Subsystem recovery and press Enter.
  2. In the System Recovery Preparation and JCL Generation panel, select 5. Disaster recovery and press Enter.
  3. Select 1. Establish a Recovery Point and press Enter.
  4. On the Establish Recovery Point panel, choose the subsystem recovery point and press Enter.
The Disaster Recovery panel is displayed.
  5. Specify whether you want to generate the JCL to establish the recovery point or wait until you have also set options for preparing the archive logs and subsystem recovery.

    • To generate the job now, select 6. Establish a Recovery Point (ARMBLOG or ARMBCRC) and then press Enter.
    • To generate a single job for all three disaster recovery steps, perform the following procedures:
