Setting the MEMLIMIT parameter

The Online Consistent Copy technology requires above-the-bar memory and might abend if sufficient memory is not available.

The default value for the System Management Facility (SMF) MEMLIMIT parameter is 2 GB.

For most jobs, we recommend a value of at least 2 GB for the MEMLIMIT parameter. However, if you are operating on LOB or XML data, we recommend a value of at least 32 GB.

REGION-parameter

This value is set in member SMFPRM xx in SYS1.PARMLIB. Use any of the following methods to override the default value:

  • Specify the MEMLIMIT parameter in the JCL.
  • Specify REGION=0M in the JCL.
  • Use the SMF IEFUSI exit.
