Grouping target objects

Your recovery requirements determine how you group objects for change accumulation.

When you recover using a change accumulation file, BMC AMI Recover reads the change accumulation file to the position in the file that is required to read the records for the object or objects being recovered. Thus, even though you may need to recover only one of the target objects in the group, all of the log records for all of the objects in the group may be read.

The more discrete the set of objects, the more efficient individual and concurrent recoveries can be. By grouping objects and recovering multiple objects together, you can reduce file handlings such as tape mounts and opening and closing many files.

Important

Although indexes are not explicitly included in change accumulation groups, you can include indexes for table spaces in the group when you run a change accumulation job. (See ACCUM-syntax for the syntax.)

 

Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
