Using the workspace and palette context menus


There are context menus available when you right-click the mouse in the Systems Palette or in the workspace, as described in this section.
If you right-click in the workspace (not on an object in the workspace), a context menu opens displaying a list of common tasks. The following table describes these tasks.

View "Systems Palette" window

Opens the Systems Palette window. This window is described in About workspace features.

Add Objects to Workspace

Opens the Add Objects window, where you can view and select from all of the objects in the active scenario.

Create Physical System

Opens the Create Physical System Wizard. This wizard is described in Create a new physical system.

Create Logical System

Opens the Create Logical System Wizard. This wizard is described in Creating a new logical system.

Create Device

Opens the Create Device Wizard. This wizard is described in Creating a new device .

Build Workload

Opens the Build Workload Wizard. This wizard is described in Building a new workload.

Color Identify Systems

Displays the objects in the workspace using distinct colors for different systems. You can use this menu item or the corresponding toolbar button to turn this feature on and off.

Show System Relationships

Displays arrow-tipped lines to indicate workspace objects that are related to each other, for example, a logical system within a displayed physical system. You can use this menu item or the corresponding toolbar button to turn this feature on and off.

Print

Print the current view in the workspace to your default printer.

Tile Windows

Arrange the physical and logical systems within the
workspace so that you can view each system individually.

Close All Windows

Close all physical and logical systems windows.

Close Selected Windows

Close the selected physical and logical systems windows.

Collapse All Windows

Collapse all physical and logical systems windows into a single view of the first physical system.

Settings

Opens the Settings dialog box, where you can choose color mappings for physical systems in the workspace and also turn various display options for the workspace on or off.

When you right-click a system box in the workspace, a context menu opens displaying a list of additional tasks. The describes the tasks on a physical system context menu.

Show the System Palette Window, if not visible.

Modify Physical System

Open the Modify Physical System dialog box to select a physical system to modify. For more information, see Modify a physical system .

Modify Logical System Distribution

Open the Modify Logical Systems dialog box to select a physical box to which you can make logical system changes.

Move

Move the system box using the keyboard.

Size

Resize the system box using the keyboard.

Collapse

Collapse the system box.

Close

Close the system box.

Close all children

Closes all objects that are children of the selected object, for example, all logical systems that are in a selected physical system.

Remove from view

Removes the physical system from the workspace. Once removed from view, you cannot model the system and it will not appear in reports.

Copy to

Makes a copy of the physical system.

Rename

Opens a dialog box where you can rename the physical system. The new name is displayed as soon as you close the dialog box.

Chart Viewer

Opens the Chart Viewer to display the selected system.

Sort Object List

Sorts the list of objects (systems, devices, or workloads) in the selected system.

Properties

Display or edit properties of the system box.

If you right-click a physical or logical system name in the Group View of the Systems Palette, a context menu opens displaying a list of additional tasks. The following table describes these tasks.

Manage Groups

Opens the Manage Groups dialog box, where you can create new groups and delete existing ones, as well as add and remove objects to new and existing groups.

Add Objects

Opens the Add Object dialog where you can browse node maps of the baseline to select which systems you want to add to the active group.

Remove Objects

Removes the selected object from the group.

Select All

Selects all objects in the active group.

Tile Group Objects

Displays the Palette objects in tile form.

Auto-Size Group Objects

Automatically sizes the objects in the group.

If you right-click a physical system list item in the System View, a context menu opens displaying a list of additional tasks. The following table describes these tasks.

Opens the physical system in the workspace area, if it is not already open.

Show / Hide CPU Utilization Meter

Change the view of each physical system in the System View to a meter that displays that system's CPU utilization or Hide that view.

Remove Physical System

Removes the physical system from the evaluation process. Once removed from view, you cannot model the system and it will not appear in reports.

Copy Physical System

Makes a copy of the logical system.

Modify Physical System

You can reconfigure the components in the selected physical system for "What-If" scenarios.

Rename Physical System

Opens a dialog box where you can rename the physical system. The new name is displayed as soon as you close the dialog box.

Create Logical System

Create a new logical system in the selected physical system.

Chart Viewer

Opens the Chart Viewer to display the selected system.

Sort Object List

Sorts the list of objects (systems, devices, or workloads) in the selected system.

Properties

Enables you to display or edit properties of the physical system box
