Objects
Views for object analysis are organized into the following groups:
- The page set views (PS*) display page set status and I/O information, including summary views by database, object, buffer pool, and volume.
- The object status views (OBJ*) identify objects that are in restricted or advisory states, or being accessed by a utility.
In addition, use the BMC AMI Catalog Manager for Db2 Browse dialogs to browse any object in the catalog tables for local or remote Db2 subsystems. The Catalog Browser Primary Menu, shown in CATALOG-MANAGER-for-DB2-Browse, provides hyperlinks to view database objects.
For page set data, one page set record is created for each open data set. These records provide all the available data set information, including the Db2 I/O counts and wait times, buffer pool cache counts, and status information. Historical data is available (by using the TIME command) for a more detailed analysis.
Using SSI mode with the page set views is especially useful in a data sharing environment, because it allows you to see the total group I/O counts for each shared data set, which would otherwise be split across multiple Db2s.
The object status views provide real-time analysis and do not support historical data.
You can access all the views for object analysis from the Object Menu (EZDPS), as shown in the following image:
